Get Organized: Painless Holiday Shopping and Gifting

Have you ever been at a loss as to what gift to buy someone? It's a safe bet that we've all been there before!

There's only one way to take the speculation out of gift-giving, and that's PREPARATION. If you wait until the last-minute to figure out what to get whom, you're going to waste valuable time in the process. Not to mention, the worry that comes with "hoping" the recipient likes the gift you selected on a whim.

One simple, manageable way to stay on top of your gift-giving game is to create a list of must-know info about each person.

This includes:

- Favorite colors, brands, and sizes for clothing

- Favorite stores, hang-outs, and restaurants

- Favorite authors and magazines

- Favorite music, TV shows, and movies

- Favorite foods, wine, and beer

- If they have any collections, hobbies, or special interests

- Etc.

A listing such as this gives you a lot of room to maneuver. Not only do you know what each recipient likes, you'll have multiple options within multiple prices ranges. You could go for the expensive, like a new outfit or new techie gadget, or go for the inexpensive, like a new book or a $20 gift certificate.

Here is a painless method to note (and remember!) possible gift ideas all year-round: Personalized Holiday Gift Ideas. While designed for Christmas gifts, it works equally well for other special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's or Father's Day, Valentine's Day, or any "just because" situation.

My hope is that this organizing resource makes you a little more *organized* than ever before!

SPECIAL NOTE: The above article includes just one of 40 easy-to-use Christmas organizing tools from The Clutterbugs' Guide to an Organized Christmas.

My grandmother was the most organized person I've ever known. She kept a little , purse-sized notebook with all this information in it -- and she always picked out the best, most individualized gifts. : )
