Get Organized: #1 Productivity Tip (And It Takes Less Than 2 Minutes!)

As a professional organizer, I always get asked: How can I be more productive? How can I get more stuff done everyday?

These are both great questions, and the answer lies not in what you do but how you think.

You see, when you are plagued by negative thoughts, you often produce negative results. This is because your thoughts channel real power to help you achieve personal success and growth, as well as a productive lifestyle.

Let me give you an example.

One of my #1 suggestions for being more productive is: make your bed.

Now, there's the obvious organizing result - that your bedroom looks neater with a made bed. But that's really beside the point here.

Instead, consider how making your bed helps you be more productive, not necessarily organized. (I'll give you a hint. It's not about doing the task and getting to check it off your to do list!)

Making your bed sets the TONE for your day. It says I'm up, I'm focused, I'm ready to work and get things done!

Not making your bed, well...it says the exact opposite. It makes you want to just crawl right back under the covers and be lazy.

Do you see the difference?

So think positively about your time, your schedule, your to-do's - and see how much better your life can be as a result. It can literally be the difference between operating at a whole new level of productivity or stagnating where you are now.

Get Organized: 3 Secrets to Having an Organized Home Even With a Disorganized Spouse

Did you know that married men are four times more likely to leave their pajamas on the floor in the morning compared to single men?

Well, it’s a proven scientific fact – not just a figment of your imagination! And although it speaks to those in a marriage, it’s a statistic that naturally reflects in any committed relationship. There’s ALWAYS one side that is messier than the other.

It can be extremely difficult – if not impossible – to keep an organized and de-cluttered home when your partner doesn’t seem to be on board with the idea of organization.

Until NOW, this problem has never really been addressed or answered.

That's why I've teamed up with Dr. Patty Ann, acclaimed relationship expert, to do just that in our FREE call on Wednesday, May 5th at 4pm EST:

"3 Secrets to Having an Organized Home Even With a Disorganized Spouse (or Partner, Significant Other, Roommate, Whatever)"

If you are wondering how to deal with someone whose messy habits are creating havoc in your home and relationship...well, wonder no more!

In this free teleclass we'll discuss:

  • The one thing you must know to have an organized home even with an "oh-so-messy" better half (Hint: it has NOTHING to do with where you put your stuff!)
  • How to stop sabotaging any chance that your spouse will listen to your requests to tidy up and help you around the house.
  • How to compromise and still get what you want…an organized home!

*Please note: if you can't make it live or you are reading this weeks after the call, we will be sending the audio of the call to those who register*

Get Organized: Is Your Life Unbalanced? Here's Why.

Often times, we tend to think of clutter as "stuff" in our space: piles of paper on the desk, clusters of toys on the rug, mounds of mail on the kitchen counter, stacks of magazines on the sofa, and heaps of laundry on the bed.

And while this is true, there are other types of clutter that can creep into your life.

For example:

-- Do you over-commit to people, organizations, or causes? Then you have something that clutters your schedule.

-- Do you have someone in your life that bleeds your energy and patience, so much so that the very mention of their name causes you great stress? Then you have something that clutters your spirit.

-- Do you look for a distraction, like a TV show, whenever you know you have work to be done? Then you have something that clutters your habit patterns.

-- Do you lose focus a lot when you really need to finish a project? Then you have something that clutters your mind.

In other words, clutter can permeate more than just your surroundings; clutter can permeate all or parts of you.

And in the same respect, organizing is more than managing your belongings. Organizing is managing you - all parts of you - so that you feel balanced and in control.

So the next time you tidy up your house, yet you still feel "off" and frenzied, then examine the other areas of your life that may need to be de-cluttered to help you pinpoint your problem.

Get Organized: The Biggest Organizing No-No of All

You're sure to find a perfectly organized home when you open up any magazine. And those pictures make you think: Man, I wish my house looked like that!

Of course, the ideal home doesn't have to be in a book, in a magazine, or on TV. You may need to look no further than your next door neighbor or your own family to find the poster child for neat freakiness. And that person makes you think: Man, I wish my house looked like theirs!

With organizing, as with most things in life, it's sometimes easy to compare yourself with others. And when this happens, it's important that you give yourself a reality check.

The perfectly organized home? The perfectly organized life? Here it is:

No one gets it right all the time. So don't be so hard on yourself!

A perfectly organized home should never be your goal. Instead, focus on creating a home organizing system that fits your daily routine and helps you have quick access to your belongings.

This is one of those "things" that is much easier said than done. So it's a good idea to remind yourself of this principle...every single day!

An simple way to do this is to print off this article and cut out the NO IMAGE AVAILABLE graphic. Then tape it to a spot you see all the time, like your bathroom mirror, or nest it inside something you use a lot, like the loose change in your wallet. You'll automatically know what it means, and it reinforces the idea inside your head, which is a key step to believing it!
